Background and Challenge

WLH Consulting, Inc. worked with the senior leadership team from one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit health plan and delivery systems to develop a focused Human Capital Strategy. This entailed analyzing and understanding industry trends and the development of an overall strategy to attract, develop, and retain talent.

Approach and Deliverables

The senior leadership team recognized that there were many business trends affecting the workplace and impacting their talent. WLH provided research and prepared a report on workforce planning trends impacting large healthcare systems, presented the findings to senior leadership, and guided the executive team to align on project priorities and next steps. The work entailed designing a comprehensive Human Capital Strategy, including a targeted retention strategy and a development planning process for use throughout the client’s organization. WLH partnered with HR, senior leadership, and internal cross-functional teams to implement initiatives to improve employee engagement, talent acquisition, and leadership development. Additionally, WLH helped the client create a center of excellence for HR operations and learning and development.

Results

Senior leaders took ownership for many of the initiatives designed to reduce turnover and increase retention of critical employee population groups. This resulted in the client improving overall retention and increasing employee satisfaction.
