Hi everyone! Thanks so much for tuning into this week’s WLH Podcast. As the final week of 2020 approaches, we at WLH are reflecting a lot on this past year. Going into 2020, we all had goals, aspirations, and expectations for what we could accomplish in both our personal and professional lives. However, as we all now know, there was no way to predict or prepare for the unique and incredible challenges that this year posed to people all over the world. We were forced to adapt in ways that we have never done before, and work together to establish and navigate the “new normal.”

Now, as we gear up for the new year, it is more important than ever to take the time and space to reflect. We encourage you to think about the goals you set at the beginning of 2020: how did these goals adjust or change throughout the year? Which goals were you and your team able to meet? Which goals did you fall short on?  Though it is easy to frame the goals that we fell short on as “failures,” that is the wrong perspective to take, especially during such a challenging and unprecedented year. Rather, we should view both the achievements and shortcomings of this past year as opportunities for growth and development in 2021!

In this podcast, we will provide you with our REFLECT framework so that you can systematically review what went well this year and what areas you can improve on next year. We will provide you a framework to review your performance, evaluate what you accomplished, focus on critical priorities, learn from experiences, embrace the ever changing and evolving healthcare markets, commit to regular reviews and recalibrations of plans, and thank all of the people who helped you maintain business continuity and achieve goals in this tumultuous year.

Reflecting on the past is a key skill for anyone who seeks to improve and meet new, higher goals in the future. We can all learn from how we responded to the challenges of 2020, but it will take focused efforts to make the most out of our reflections and apply these lessons to the opportunities of the new year.
